Longarm Quilting Rental

Do you want to learn longarm quilting?  Or would you like to be involved in the longarm quilting of your quilt top with professional guidance?

If you are in the Chicago area (60025 zip code) you can rent time on our Handiquilter Forte Longarm with Prostitcher.  We can provide guidance each step of the way as you quilt Edge-to-Edge, Custom Designs or do ruler work and free motion quilting.

$100 Deposit - actual cost to be based on the amount of time needed to complete the quilt at a rate of $25 per hour if you do not need a mentor, or $50 per hour if you do need mentoring.  There is a 4 hour minimum rental period.  Thread will be charged at $3 a bobbin for solid colors, $5 a bobbin for variegated.  Batting, if needed, at cost.

Please contact us if you are interested so we can help you estimate the amount of time you will need to complete the quilting and an approximate cost.

FURTHER DETAILS

I have many Edge-to-Edge, block, borders, and triangle designs (samples pictured) and can skew many designs into other irregular shapes.  You many also look online for designs and purchase your preferred pattern in digital form and use that (please contact me before making your purchase to insure the file type is compatible with the Handiquilter).

Quilt Top, batting, backing and binding Details:

Quilt Top:  Please make sure quilt tops are pressed, free of loose threads front and back.  Seam allowances should be pressed and dog ears trimmed.  Any pieced borders need to be stay-stitched around the edges within the area covered by the binding.  Make sure the quilt top is square and lays flat, and has no embellishments like buttons, sequins or beads.

Batting:  If you are providing the batting, it needs to be one piece, square and evenly trimmed 4 inches longer and wider than the quilt top.  I can supply the batting and charge you for the yardage required.

Backing:  It needs to be 6 inches longer and wider than the quilt top.  If seamed, the seam should run horizontally, not vertically. Cut off all salvages.

Thread:  We will provide OMNI thread – solid ($3 per bobbin used samples pictured) and variegated. ($5 per bobbin used).  You pick the color of the thread (the same thread color will be used on top and bottom).

Binding:  If you provide 2 ½ inch strips for the binding, you can machine sew these onto the front while the quilt is on the frame.  You will need to complete the binding off frame.
